How to Inspect a Tail Lift After Repair: 5-Minute Handover Checklist (PDF Download)

New Win Tec Company Limited 3 min read

When a tail lift repair is finished and the technician says it is done, should you drive away immediately? Take five minutes to check it over first. Many problems are not caused by poor repair work but are only discovered days later, when the vehicle is already back in service.

We have prepared a printable A4 checklist with six sections, tick boxes and a sign-off area:

The PDF is in Traditional Chinese. For a fleet, English or Simplified Chinese version, WhatsApp 9098 9100.

Six sections to check

1. Lift operation

  • Platform rises and lowers smoothly with no jamming
  • Test at the rated load where applicable
  • Speed is similar to before the repair

2. Unusual noises

  • Hydraulic pump sounds normal, without metallic grinding
  • No unusual noise from the cylinder or pivots
  • Movement is steady without excessive vibration

3. Leaks

  • No oil around the cylinder, hoses or connectors
  • No oil stains on the platform or frame
  • The work area is clean, with no tools or parts left behind

4. Safety devices (Labour Department five categories)

  • Original dual-hand control: both hands required, stops when released
  • Buzzer sounds during operation
  • Platform flashing light works
  • Mechanical anti-trap foot guard is secure
  • Laser/infrared sensor responds correctly without false triggers

5. Controls and wiring

  • Every button on the cab switch and remote responds
  • Wiring is secured with no exposed or damaged sections
  • Emergency stop works where fitted

6. Platform level and structure

  • Platform is level with no obvious tilt
  • No cracks, distortion or untreated new welds
  • Bolts and pivots are tightened
  • When stowed, the platform does not block the number plate, tail lights or rear doors

What to do if you find a problem

  1. Raise it on the spot — tell the technician before driving away
  2. Take photos — record the issue together with the registration and job number
  3. Note it on the checklist — mark the "follow-up" box
  4. Agree a follow-up date — ask when it will be inspected or corrected

Handover inspection is not Form 5

These are different: the handover inspection confirms this repair; Form 5 is the statutory annual load inspection. Passing the handover check does not replace Form 5 (see the Form 5 inspection guide).

New Win Tec's handover process

  • Every repair is function-tested, including the lift and safety devices
  • One-year warranty (details on the quotation)
  • Follow-up via WhatsApp 9098 9100
  • Form 5 inspection can be arranged as part of the service
